Long waiting times, a lot of hassle and a lack of privacy are all obstacles to testing for STDs. And we haven’t even mentioned the high costs of a test conducted by your GP. A shame, because it could be so much easier! With testalize.me, you can test yourself reliably for STDs. From home but with analysis in an ISO-accredited (Dutch) lab.

How it started

In 2014, the idea arose to offer remote diagnostics. Medical self-tests with laboratory analyses to remove barriers. Testing should be simpler, or so we thought. Especially testing for STDs. Unfortunately, regular diagnostics do not work for many, or at least are far from ideal. This creates a group of non-responders, people who are not tested. This problem can be solved by making tests accessible and anonymous. But we should not compromise on quality. This started the search for a lab.

That laboratory was more difficult to find than originally anticipated. Laboratories often proved unable to process digital and anonymous data. At the beginning of 2015, we (finally) found a laboratory that could meet our wishes: the Eindhoven GP laboratory Diagnostiek voor U. In the autumn of 2015, we launched the first tests. With the continuous optimisation of product, process and website, more and more consumers know where to find us. We now test tens of thousands of people a year, our products are available at hundreds of pharmacies and even some municipal health services use our test. Real diagnostics

We offer remote diagnostics. You can do a testalize.me test wherever and whenever you want. Just as reliable as your GP or the municipal health services. Your body material is examined in our laboratory, the results are released by a medical microbiologist. We do not change the diagnostics. This is identical to the diagnostics carried out by GPs or municipal health services. But we completely change the process. We are digitising and have developed a consumer product. This allows you to (self) test remotely, you have the results quickly and costs remain low. In addition, your test is 100% anonymous.

Testalize.me is a legal manufacturer of medical devices, our tests fall under the Dutch Medical Devices Act.

Our vision

Keeping testing as simple as possible, without compromising on reliability. That’s testalize.me. Making an STD test complicated means people don’t get tested – or not often enough. That’s a shame and totally unnecessary. You can do the test yourself, in the comfort of your own home. As often as you want, without encountering all kinds of barriers first.

Regular diagnostics can only be requested by doctors or professionals. For you – as a consumer – the lab is inaccessible. That’s actually quite strange. Because in the end, you know best whether you have run a risk and/or have complaints. You should be able to decide for yourself when and where to test. We believe it should be possible for the consumer to directly request diagnostics – and in particular STD diagnostics. This is the only way you can intervene in time and prevent further spread.

We replace conversations in which difficult questions are asked with a digital test guide. We do not have a medical file with name and address details and results. Our tests are made based on a code and only you have that code. And weeks of waiting for results is also a thing of the past. At testalize.me, you will receive your results within 48 hours and that result is authorised by a microbiologist. We remove all barriers. Testing for STDs is easy and you have complete control.
